What I do

Small business website design without the headache

You didn't start your business to become a web expert. So I keep the whole thing simple — you tell me about what you do, and I turn it into a website that earns its keep.

Most small business owners land in the same spot. You know you need a website — a proper one, not a half-finished Facebook page — but the options are either a fiddly DIY builder that eats your weekends, or an agency quote that makes your eyes water. So it gets put off. Again. I’m the sensible middle: a real person who builds you a proper, custom site for a fair price, and actually makes it painless.

What “a proper website” means

Not a template thousands of other businesses are also using. A site built around your business — what you do, who you’re for, and the one or two things you want people to do when they land on it. That usually means:

  • A clean, modern design that looks like you, on your own domain
  • Fast loading and easy to use on a phone, where most people will see it first
  • Words that actually explain what you do, without the waffle
  • A clear next step — call, message, book, buy — that’s impossible to miss
  • Set up so Google can find you and show you to the right people

How it works, start to finish

I keep the process short and human:

  1. We have a chat. You tell me about the business and what you want the site to do. No obligation.
  2. I plan it and price it. You get a fixed quote and a timeline up front, so there are no surprises.
  3. I build it. I design and build the whole thing myself, showing you as I go.
  4. We go live — and I stay put. Your site launches, and I’m still here for changes and questions.

That’s it. No account managers, no forms disappearing into a queue, no wondering who’s actually doing the work. It’s me, the whole way through.

Who it’s for

Any small business that wants to look the part and be found: shops and salons, cafés and trades, clinics, consultants, growing local firms — first-timers and people replacing a site that never really worked. If you’re small enough to care deeply about every customer, we’ll get on well.

Honest about the money

Websites start at £249, agreed as a fixed price before we begin. It’s more than a cheap template — because it’s a proper, made-for-you site — and comfortably less than an agency would charge for the same thing. You own the site and the domain outright, with no lock-in, no monthly trap, and no one holding your business hostage.

What it isn’t

A proper small business website isn’t a thirty-page brochure nobody reads, and it isn’t a box you tick once and forget. It’s a small number of pages, doing a small number of jobs, really well — getting found, building a bit of trust, and nudging someone to take the next step. I won’t sell you features you’ll never use or pages you don’t need; if something won’t earn its place, I’ll tell you. Honestly, half of doing this well is knowing what to leave out, so your site stays clear, quick and easy for a customer to act on — and easy for you to keep on top of afterwards.

The goal is simple: a website that quietly works for you, built by someone you can actually reach. If that’s what you’ve been after, let’s have a chat about it.

Questions

The things people usually ask

I don't know the first thing about websites — is that a problem?
Not at all — that's the norm, and it's my job to make it easy. I don't use jargon, I explain anything technical in plain English, and I handle the fiddly bits (hosting, domains, the lot) so you don't have to learn any of it.
What do I actually need to give you?
Less than you'd think. A rough idea of what you want the site to do, some words about your business, and any photos or logo you've got. If bits are missing we'll sort them together — I can help with the writing and point you the right way on photos.
How long until it's live?
Usually about two weeks, and a lot of that depends on how quickly you can get me your content. Simple sites can be quicker; bigger ones take a bit longer. I'll give you a realistic timeline before we start.
What if I need changes later?
Easy — just message me. I stick around after launch for updates and tweaks, so your site can grow with the business. You're never left with something you can't touch and no one to ask.
